I am an armchair pilot fortunately with pilot friends and one of my great pleasures is cadging a ride with a couple of friends on a nice weekend break.

We recently decided to fly to North Norfolk. We are based in Essex, so it’s just a short hop over Suffolk, skirting Norwich and up over to Cromer. We then followed the coast to the west and landed at Snoring (yes, Snoring – an old Norse name, isn’t it great?!). I have to say that this was my first time in this part of the world and my first impressions from the air were what a beautiful, green, county it is. As none of us had any great knowledge Roger (the pilot) had searched for hotels in North Norfolk.

Many people might associate boating holidays with peace, tranquillity and a relaxed pace of life, but such breaks can offer plenty of opportunities to take part in exciting activities that really get your pulse racing.

If you travel to the Norfolk Broads for your UK boat holiday you’ll find plenty to do, especially if you have a penchant for sailing. And where better to take to the water than the unspoilt rivers of the region, which is the largest protected wetland in the UK with national park status?

A boating holiday to the Broads throws up the chance to get closer to nature as the area is home to rare flora and fauna, but when you venture off your boat onto dry land why not experience the natural landscape first hand with a sailing experience?
