Sunday, September 6th, 2009

Last night we got fish and chips from Buxton, drove over to Coltishall, parked by the river and watched the boats.

It was a lovely evening which I’m sure made the food taste better.

Before the weather turns cold I was wondering what your favourite places in Norfolk are to eat fish and chips?

To get you started here are a few of ours…

Samphire from Salthouse

Saturday, August 8th, 2009

Today we made a special trip to the North Norfolk village of Salthouse. Our mission was to acquire that delight of summer coastal crops, samphire.

Our luck was in. The samphire season is all systems go and you only have to drive 5 seconds in to Salthouse until you are presented with 3 different roadside traders selling to delicious salty treat.

For those of you who have not tried it, samphire is like a cross between seaweed and asparagus. Its soft and green and when steamed or boiled for a couple of minuets tastes wonderful just on it’s own.

A true Norfolk treat.

Norfolk Show 2009

Thursday, July 2nd, 2009

The Norfolk Show 2009 was a fantastic event.

Thousands of people once again flocked to the show ground to enjoy the annual Norfolk agricultural show.

This years highlights included the worlds biggest combine, the human cannon ball and a giant tortoise among a host of amazing and spectacular sights.

All the animals looked splendid if not a little hot. Some owners resorted to electric fans to keep their cows cool.

The pimms and Woodfordes Wherry flowed well and the hog roast was as tasty as always.

The BBC were there in full force with BBC Radio Royal Norfolk Show broadcasting live form the show ground, a special studio set that played home to Julie Reineger and Cbeebies Jelly from the Green Balloon club.

If you were at the Norfolk Show 2009 let us know your highlights.

Load of Rubbish!

Tuesday, March 10th, 2009

One of things that really annoys me is the unsightly laziness that is fly-tipping.

There is nothing worse than an old matrices, cooker or sofa dumped on the roadside spoiling the countryside view.

How hard is it to take your rubbish to the local refuse point?

Luckily in Norfolk the problem is not so bad and there are plenty of official sites to take your unwanted waste.

Do we need more refuse points, to improve our attitude to recycling or harsher fines for offenders?

Let us know your thoughts.

Thursday, February 26th, 2009

Spring time in Norfolk is fast approaching (at last). This cold spell seems to have been going on forever.

The first signs of spring are showing with snowdrops in bloom and the daffs poking out the ground. It’s even a little light when leaving work.

This spring I want to get out and soke it all up so please let us have your suggestions, tips and advice on how to experience Norfolk at it’s best this spring time.
